Divisions
How Division Admins work inside a division in the Admin Panel, and how HQ Admins create and manage the full divisions list on SME and Enterprise plans.
Divisions sit between HQ and regions in the organization hierarchy. Division Admin users work inside one division from Admin Panel. HQ Admin users create divisions, assign Division Admin contacts, and control division status from Admin Panel > Divisions.
Division Admin home
Division Admin users do not open the full HQ divisions list. After sign-in they use Admin Panel scoped to their division: members, regions, apps, billing (when allowed), and security for that division only. The home view shows members, locations, wells, and recent activity for that division.
Divisions are available on SME and Enterprise plans. Organizations on other plans manage users and wells without a division layer.
What a division controls
A division groups regions, users, and license allocation under one operating unit (for example, a business unit or geographic area). Data and admin actions respect division boundaries:
- Division Admin users manage only their division's regions and members
- License seats can be allocated per division from Billing & Licenses
- Wells and simulations belong to regions inside a division
Manage divisions (HQ Admin)
HQ Admin users open Admin Panel > Organization > Divisions to see every division, admins, regions, and status.
Create a division
- Go to Admin Panel > Divisions
- Click Add Division
- Enter the Division Name, Division Lead, and Description
- Click Create Division
The new division appears in the HQ list. Click a row to open its overview, then add Regions under it from Regions.
Assign a Division Admin (HQ Admin)
- Open the division in Divisions
- Click Edit or Assign Admin
- Select a user with appropriate access (or invite one first from Users)
- Save the record
The assigned user receives Division Admin platform scope for that division only.
Assign at least one active Division Admin before handing off day-to-day regional management. HQ Admins retain full access regardless.
Activate or deactivate a division (HQ Admin)
Deactivating a division blocks new activity under it without deleting historical data.
- Open the division in Divisions
- Set Status to Inactive (or click Deactivate)
- Confirm when prompted
Reactivate with the same control when the division should be live again.
Deactivating a division affects users and regions scoped to it. Confirm regional admins and active users are reassigned or notified before deactivating.
