Installed Simulation
Mark a RodSim simulation as the well's installed, as-built design. Only one per well, and installing syncs its pumping unit, rods, and tubing back to the well record.
Marking a simulation as installed records it as the design that's actually in the field for that well. A well can have only one installed simulation at a time.
Set a Simulation as Installed
- Open the well's RodSim list
- Flip the Installed toggle on the simulation you want
- Confirm in the dialog
Installing a simulation uninstalls whatever was installed before on that well, and resets the current simulation result. The confirmation spells this out before you commit.
What Installing Syncs
When the installed design differs from the well's current data, PetroBench overwrites parts of the well record with the simulation's, so the well reflects what's actually run downhole. It writes:
- The simulation's pumping unit onto the well (replacing the existing one)
- The simulation's rod string onto the well (replacing the existing rods)
- Well details: PSN depth, tubing anchor settings, fluid gradient, and polished rod diameter
- The simulation's survey as the well's primary directional survey
The well's tubing string is not overwritten (the simulation carries a simplified version of it, so the full tubing table on the well is preserved).
The overwrite only runs on the first install, or when the design differs from the current well data. If the simulation already matches the well, installing just marks it as installed.
Uninstall
Flip the Installed toggle off to clear the installed flag. Uninstalling happens immediately, with no confirmation, and does not change the simulation's inputs or results.
From some list views the toggle is read-only, with the hint "Go to well to change install status." Open the well's RodSim list to change it there.
Permissions
Setting or clearing the installed simulation requires the install permission. If your role doesn't have it, the toggle stays disabled.
