Custom Pumping Units
Define custom pumping unit geometries and specifications in PetroBench. Configure stroke length, gear ratios, and structural properties for simulation.
Create custom pumping units when your unit isn't in the standard library.
Create a Custom Unit
- Click the Custom Equipment (wrench) icon on a simulation page
- Click Add Pumping Unit to open the Create Measured Pumping Unit dialog
- Enter the fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Manufacturer | Unit manufacturer name |
| Unit Name | Your name for the unit |
| Type | Conventional, Mark II, Enhanced Geometry, Air Balanced, Long Stroke, Hydraulic, or HGC |
A Designation is generated automatically from these.
- Add geometric parameters (A-K dimensions)
- Configure crank positions and stroke lengths
- Enter gearbox and structural ratings
- Save the unit
The more parameters you provide, the more accurate your simulation results.
Using Custom Units
Pumping units are selected in Simulation Preferences:
- Click Select Pumping Unit
- Search or filter the library; custom units appear alongside the standard ones
- Pick your unit, then set rotation and crank hole
A custom unit you create is immediately available in this list.
Edit or Delete
- Your Pump Units tab shows units you created
- Company Pump Units tab shows all units in your organization
- Click Edit to modify, Delete to remove
Editing a custom unit affects all simulations that reference it.
