Dynamics
RodSim Dynamics is a separate add-on that runs your design across ranges of wellbore conditions and graphs how it holds up. Set it up for your organization, then run it from the Dynamic button.
RodSim Dynamics is a separate add-on to RodSim. It has to be set up for your organization before anyone can use it. Once it's enabled, a Dynamic button appears next to Static on the simulation page; without it, only Static is available.
Dynamics is enabled per organization. If you don't see the Dynamic button, ask an administrator to set it up for your org.
What it does
Static runs your design at the single set of conditions you entered. Dynamics runs it across ranges of conditions and graphs how it behaves across all of them, so you can pick settings that hold up as the well changes. It sweeps three sensitivities:
| Sensitivity | What it sweeps |
|---|---|
| Pump Fillage | Across fluid levels / how full the pump is |
| Pump Intake Pressure | As the well is pumped down |
| Stroke Rate | Across pumping speeds |
It runs many simulations in parallel on cloud compute and finishes in minutes.
Run it
- Fill in the simulation tabs as usual (see Creating a Simulation)
- Click Dynamic
- Open the Dynamic Output tab when it finishes
Reading the output
Graphs are plotted across pump intake pressure or pump fill and colored by stroke rate, grouped into three pump conditions:
- Full Pump
- Fluid Pound
- Gas Interface
Each group shows the key metrics (bottom minimum stress, max rod loading, gearbox loading, structural loading) so you can see where the design stays safe and pick a stroke rate that holds up across the range.
