Allows the user to select the number of tapers making up the rod string.
The user can select between Branded, Measured, or Create Measured. Selecting Branded allows them to select from a list of manufacturers, associated grades and diameters from the rod library. Selecting measured will allow the user to select a rod from a list of measured rods previously defined by the user of their associated company. Selecting Create Measured allows the user to define a measured rod to be used in the current simulation, and stored for future use.
The user can select between “Sucker Rod”, “Sinker Bar”, “Fiberglass”, and “Continuous”. The options for Manufacturer are populated based on the selection for “Rod Type”.
The user can select between from a list of Manufacturers that have available rods based on the “Rod Type” selection.
The user can select between from a list of available grades for the selected manufacturer.
The user can select between from a list of available diameters based on the manufacturer and grade selected.
The stress calculation method is populated based on a default, but the user can change it.
If the rod taper associated with a row is guided, they check the box.
The user can select from a list of branded guides from the “Guide Type” selection window.
Users enter the number of guides per rod for each taper.
The friction coefficient is populated with a default based on the rod and guides, but is editable.
The user enters the length of each of the rod tapers, the bottom taper length is calculated based on the above taper lengths and the PSN depth.
The user selects the polished rod diameter from a list.
A stress load derating factor based on fluid conditions.
Selecting will calculate the optimal number of guides per rod so that the maximum recommended side force per guide is not exceeded, and the distance between guides does not exceed the critical buckling length for the specified taper.
Selecting will include the weight and buoyancy of the rod guides in the simulation calculations.
Selecting allows the user to define general parameters of a rod string to automatically populate the input table, rather than manually creating a rod string.
The user can select between steel, continuous or fiberglass as the primary rod string material.
Like rod input table, the user can select from branded, measured, or can create a measured rod.
The user can select between from a list of Manufacturers that have available rods based on the “Rod Type” selection.
The user can select between from a list of available grades for the selected manufacturer.
Rod diameter of the top taper.
Rod diameter of the bottom taper.
If the user selects Fiberglass for the rod material, the include steel below selection will appear. Selecting allows the user to define steel rod tapers below the fiberglass taper.
Selecting allows the user to define a sinker rod or sinker bar taper below the already define rod tapers.
The user can select between sinker bars and sinker rods; sinker rods are sucker rods used in a sinker application, that is when the diameter of the taper is larger than the diameter of the above taper.
The user can select between from a list of manufacturers that have available sinker bars/rods for the sinker type selected.
The user can select from a list of available grades for the selected sinker type and manufacturer.
The user selects from a list of available diameters for the type, manufacturer and grade selected.
The user enters the length of the sinker taper.
Clicking on create will generate a rod string based on the design assistance inputs, and populate the rod table.
