Hydraulic Lift Calculator

The hydraulic lift calculator is used to estimate the operational parameters of a hydraulic pumping unit based on a set of input parameters.

Peak Polished Rod Load

The maximum observed polished rod load over a pumping cycle.

Stroke Length

The equal distance that the polished rod travels on both the upstroke and downstroke of the pumping cycle.

Up Stroke Speed

The time duration of the upstroke portion of the pumping cycle.

Down Stroke Speed

The time duration of the downstroke portion of the pumping cycle.

Cylinder ID

The inner diameter of the hydraulic cylinder used to drive the pumping unit.

Maximum Rated Load

The manufacturers specified maximum polished rod load that the pumping unit is rated for.

Turn Around Time

The duration of time between the end of the upstroke and the start of the downstroke, and between the end of the downstroke and the start of the upstroke.

Elevation Above Sea Level

The ground level where the pumping unit is located relative to sea level.

Prime Mover

The electric or internal combustion motor used to drive the hydraulic pump.

Hydraulic Pump

The pump that converts the rotational force of the prime mover into hydraulic force via the hydraulic fluid.

Average Pump Speed

The number of stroke cycles completed over a one-minute duration.

Hydraulic Pump Pressure

The hydraulic fluid pressure at the outlet of the of the hydraulic pump.

Hydraulic Pump Flow

The flow rate of hydraulic fluid measured in gallons per minute.

Power Required

Horsepower required from the prime mover.

Engine Elevation De-rating

The rated horsepower reduction for an internal combustion engine due to elevation.

Prime Mover Loading

Power required as a percentage of prime mover rated horsepower.

Hydraulic Pump Flow (% of Max Flow)

Hydraulic pump flow as a percentage of the maximum flowrate of the hydraulic pump.

Hydraulic Pump Pressure (% of Max psi)

Hydraulic pump pressure as a percentage of maximum rated pressure of the hydraulic pump.

Structural Loading

Peak polished rod load as a percentage of maximum rated load.

Max Polished Rod Velocity

The maximum calculated velocity of the polished rod.
