Your simulation has been running for a while and you’re wondering if something’s wrong.

What’s Normal

Most simulations complete in 15-30 seconds. The progress indicator shows these stages:
  1. Loading Simulation
  2. Importing Variables
  3. Processing Input Variables
  4. Setting Rod String
  5. Simulating (this is the longest stage)
  6. Calculating Output Variables
  7. Creating Report
If the simulation is moving through stages, it’s working — just wait.

When to Worry

Stuck on the same stage for over 2 minutes: Something may have gone wrong. Try refreshing the page. Progress bar isn’t moving at all: Your browser might have lost connection. Check your internet, then refresh. “Simulation failed” error after waiting: See Simulation Errors for specific error fixes.

Why Some Simulations Take Longer

Complex rod strings: More taper sections = more calculations. A 6-taper string takes longer than a 3-taper. Small step length: Smaller step lengths (like 10 ft) are more accurate but take longer. The default 50 ft is a good balance. Deviated wells with detailed surveys: More survey points = more geometry calculations. If your survey has 5,000+ points, expect longer run times.
